Innovation in Iran's leather industry; Amin Home held the first exhibition combining natural leather and contemporary art
The "Amin Home" brand, affiliated with the Amin Leather Company, simultaneously with Tehran Design Week 2015 and in collaboration with Kama Gallery, exhibited for the first time in the country a collection of natural leather products alongside the works of 30 prominent contemporary Iranian artists; an event that could create a new path in value creation, interior design, and the use of locally produced leather.
Hamed Lary, CEO of Charm Amin Company, in an exclusive interview with the Asr Tolid reporter, referring to the neglected potential of natural leather in the country's interior design, said: "For years, the use of natural leather in interior design has been seen as less than the real potential of this industry, and a large part of our interior design is influenced by foreign patterns. While the Iranian identity has extraordinary potential for presenting new styles."
He added: "Based on this, we at Amin Home decided to hold a different event, for the first time in the country, simultaneously with Tehran Design Week 2025; an event in which leather products, including sofas, chairs, flooring, wall coverings, dining tables, consoles, and other decorative works, are presented alongside the works of 30 prominent contemporary artists to form a luxurious combination of Iranian production and today's art."
According to Lary, the exhibition is titled “Design in Presence,” a title that emphasizes the deep connection between humans, matter, and space. “In this event, four rooms are designed with four independent concepts from stillness to grandeur so that the audience can not only see, but also experience the connection between leather, art, and space,” he explained.
CEO of Amin Leather also referred to the design philosophy of the Amin Home brand and said, “At Amin Home, we work based on a concept called Gahan; a philosophy that creates the seven sounds of authenticity, beauty, dynamism, peace, elegance, love, and permanence from the combination of home elements. This view is the intellectual framework and spirit that governs our design, and it is also clearly evident in this exhibition.”
This event showcases the works of 30 contemporary artists, including Sadegh Adham, Nasser Oveisi, Aydin Aghdashloo, Fereydoun Av, Masoud Arabshahi, Ali Nedai, Kambiz Dermabakhsh, and a group of other prominent artists; an event that highlights the connection between contemporary Iranian art and the leather industry in the form of a shared experience.
In conclusion, Lari emphasized the importance of redefining the role of natural leather in Iranian homes and stated, “Amin Home does not see luxury in glitz; rather, it seeks authenticity, meaning, and the elegance of living. The Design in Presence exhibition is an attempt to present a new perspective on the use of natural leather in interior design and an invitation to reinterpret the capacities of Iranian production in the context of today’s art.”
